The New Year

It
begins in the dark
The
possibilities endless, as the no limits could be seen
It
begins with a walk
One
step following another
One
day following another
It
begins with friends
Some
near and dear
A
reunion of sorts with others
Some
new
All
familiar in that way that comes when sharing a journey
It
begins at the edge of the land
Appearing
to be an end of things
It
begins with the sun coming up
Lighting
a path across the water
Calling
me forward
It
begins with my shadow stretching out behind me
Like
memories that are a part of me
Showing
me a way forward
It
begins with the sun on my face
And
hope in my heart
